– Dan Savage on the new definition of “Saddlebacking,” created in honor of Rick Warren. This seriously needs to be bigger than Santorum a few years back. (via raptoravatar & izimbra)

Just to get groceries… wow.
From the Apropos Dept: A city worker opened a manhole in front of our house this morning and proclaimed, “Holy Shit!”
Whatever comic material is lost with the departure of Bush and Cheney, it is totally worth it.
What do they do with all of the little paper triangles in the Battlestar Galactica universe? All the papers have the corners cut off.
The Digital Television Scam
Timeline:
So broadcasters wanted to go digital a long time ago.
Then they convinced congress to approve the switch.
Without telling anybody, congress lets television manufacturers unload their stock of televisions that aren’t set up for digital.
Finally congress sets a timeline.
The hype begins.
People flip out.
A bunch of manufacturers jump in and produce converter boxes.

I do NOT miss the “homework” of being a teacher. Seeing what CH goes through reminds me that I’m totally fine with not returning to it.
High School Dances
Did you go to school dances back in high school?
Did they play Mony Mony?
Did everyone yell “Hey! Hey What? Get laid, get fucked!” ?
Or
Did everyone yell “Hey Mother Fucker! Get laid, get fucked!” ?
My high school favored the first. And now I’ve read that it is a practically global phenomenon.
Regardless, it is fucking retarded. I thought so then....

Proud
I am so incredibly proud of my nation. Despite our on-going culture war, we managed to vote in Barack Obama. No matter how tough the row-to-hoe is going forward, this is truly a transformative moment. And it speaks to the best this nation has to offer. Well done America. Well done Barack.
Today is sheer joy. Enjoy it. Tomorrow is a lot of work.
Sunday Morning Political Talk Shows
Based on the commercials, I should have problems with my prostate, believe oil companies care about kids, drive a GMC because no one can hold me back, plan for my retirement (because the banks need more of my money to lose), and consider wind power as an alternative because I hate A-rabs.

BSG Season 4: Episode 1
So, first of all, excellent episode and the performances, as usual, were seriously top notch. The writers are just cruel and love to give the characters one worst-case-scenario after another. They are gutsy, and all I can do is trust that they will somehow explain this shit.
So, let me get this straight, Earth was populated by “cylons” (whatever the hell that means now) and that a...
Seriously, the last X-Files movie was awful. It was like a made for TV movie. Next on Oxygen…Mulder and Scully’s love - with weird stuff.

Marinara Rule #1
Marinara sauce is to NEVER, under any circumstances, include sugar as an ingredient. Full stop. Non-negotiable.
Any restaurant, food producer, or individual caught adding sugar to their red sauce needs to be prosecuted. At the very minimum they should be fined and given community service duty to ammend for this awful culinary transgression.
And the bastards know we are onto them too. Pick up a...

“No one thought Al Gore would be a loveable president, but, after eight years in the White House, he has gotten truly tiresome. The droning voice, the purchase of an eco-friendly robot dog, the campaign for carbon-free diamonds - all these things were hard to take, and he has been way too smug about reversing global warming. I think we’ve gone too far in the opposite...

So I’m trying to record the telephone sound from the movie Brazil directly from the DVD. Only one download from the interwebs, and it sucks

I have just connected Twitter to my blog. So now my stuff goes one way Twitter > Tumblr > Facebook. Each has a purpose now.
Overall, a successful first week of the year. Let’s hope the rest fall in line.

Twitter > Tumblr > Facebook
So I think Twitter is fun. Tumblr is also great for its flexibility in the range of posts I can make, I can write short or long, or just post videos. Yet, most of my real life social network is on Facebook. (And who gives a shit about My Space with its advert-ridden crappy interface anyway?)
But I think I’ve finally figured out the right uses - and connections - for each channel.
